Well, as you've already gone, I hope you had a great time there, Dave.
What's up with Cali, Jewel?

I always need to be touched - not necessarily for very long, though |

When do we get to find out how the trip to Italy was? |

Ooops! :O
Italy was fantastic - those on Facebook can see my pix over there, took over 300 in all.
Almost everything the country is famed for it proved itself to excel in - wine, food, coffee, Ice cream, pizza, more wine..... I have never eaten as many pizzas or drunk as much wine in one week and not had raging hangovers or acid heartburn! Not a moments side effects!
The only thing Richard and I thought was a little disappointing ...was the women lol. Italy is famed for having its beautiful women, but apart from the occasional one or two they were sadly unremarkable. I know that sounds harsh, but since everything else exceeded our expectations we were a little surprised. Having said that - the occasional one or two I mentioned were incredible.
We had some amazing outings too - we did the famed Amalfi Drive, saw the villas of the likes of Sophia Loren, Roger Moore and Gore Vidal....visited the (very chic and expensive) Isle of Capri....we visited the preserved ruins of Roman cities Pompeii and Herculaneum (both victims of the Vesuvius eruption circa 76AD) ...and I was utterly amazed to bump into one of my Director friends whilst in Pompeii - outside what used to be the brothel of all places! The people were fantastic too - at first I thought the Italians seemed a bit arrogant and distant...but then you realise they are actually very respectful of your space. They don't bother you, like say the Spaniards are prone to do. Once they get to know you however they will royally look after you. I had always wanted to visit Italy but never knew where to start - I couldn't have picked better than Sorrento on the Neapolitan Riviera. We saw one cloud in the whole week, it was high 70's/low 80's, and I will happily return there one day. |

Hm...I wonder what it's like to have so many diverse cultures within just a few hours flight time of each other. Glad you enjoyed
yourself.

Well next up is my planned USA trip....but that is kind of on hold until guaranteed work starts coming in.
As I am I have enough of my redundancy pay to last me until May '09 to cover my bills, so am hesitant to spend any more until I know I have some money coming in. I'm currently sending my freelance CV out to as many people as I can get in touch with, so fingers crossed someone will need me soon. |

Is the possibility of emigration still out there? |
|||
DaveJ |

Its my ultimate goal yes indeed.
The credit crunch/recession has meant that houses just simply aren't selling here at the moment, so I still intend to freelance for the next 2 years or so to see it out and build up some financial weight. Once I sell the house I am living on all your sofas for a while!

Maybe we all ought to start a freelance business together.
Freelancers-R-Us. There'll be a bunch of us doing the odd freelance work - none of us doing the same type of job. We lease the office space together - with big "open" offices with lots of space to spread out. And there will be communal space with comfy sofas and chairs, and/or a nice giant conference room table with comfy chairs to chit chat or bounce ideas off each other or ask the others for advise. Think of the office set-up in "Private Practise" or "Without A Trace". Dave can do the video editing, etc; I'll do my surface and textile designs. What does everyone else want to do? |

Can we do it out of that house that we saw for sale at Pebble Beach? |

Wouldn't THAT be cool!? Except each of would have to already BE independently wealthy first in order to be able to afford it. That
was a gorgeous house though.

Pick Me. Pebble is the ultimate! And Jewel with an E I hope things are going better in your world. So that you know where I am in life...... I guess you can
call me Russ.
